Hi, I’m Casey, the mom behind sugardots.

My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2022, when she was 5, and overnight our world became a blur of blood sugars, carb counts, alarms, juice boxes, and asking, “Wait... did we bolus?” every day.

Like so many T1D families, we were completely overwhelmed. We were learning an entirely new disease from scratch while trying to explain it to a five-year-old whose biggest concern just days earlier had been learning how to tie her shoes. To make it feel less scary and more manageable, we kept the language simple. One phrase we used was “watching the sugardots.” We would look at the little Dexcom dots together and talk about keeping the sugardots in range, which made everything feel a little less medical and easier for all of us to understand.

Since Type One came into our lives, we’ve always wanted to advocate for awareness in a way that felt natural to us. We were looking for T1D gear that matched our style and could easily fit into everyday life. What began as stickers for our own diabetes bags and water bottles slowly became sugardots, a shop full of hand-drawn stickers, apparel, and accessories made to bring a little humor, comfort, and casual advocacy to life with T1D.

We never would have chosen this diagnosis, but we’re incredibly grateful for the community it introduced us to. If something here makes you smile, starts a conversation, helps you spot another T1D in the wild, or simply makes diabetes feel a little less heavy for a day, then this little shop has done exactly what I hoped it would.
